Shaun Bythell skriver om sin bokhandel och om sina vedermöder i att få hela ruljangsen att gå ihop. Det är ibland elakt, ofta roligt och dessutom lärorikt. Den här boken kommer snart i svensk översättning.
" Often, even after you've told customers that you do not have a copy of the book they're looking for in stock, they will insist on telling you at great length and in tedious detail why they're looking for that particular title. A few possible explanations for this have occurred to me, but the one by which I am most convinced is that it is an exercise in intellectual masturbation. They want you to know that this is the subject about which they are informed, and even if they are wrong about whatever they've chosen to pontificate on, they drone on- normally at a volume calculated to reach not only the concerned bookseller but everyone else in the vicinity too." (s. 73).

Hannele: Jag tycker också mycket om boken. Att vara bokhandlare idag kräver massor av kreativitet och kunnande.
den vill jag också läsa. allt som rör sig om böcker. det kan inte vara lätt att vara bokhandlare idag och konkurrera med varuhus och nät
Mrs C: Boken handlar mycket om kampen för överlevnad. Jag har förståelse för att Bythell ofta känner sig arg och irriterad. Det kräver stor passion att vara bokhandlare idag. Speciellt då att inneha ett antikvariat.
